  1. Hi guys, as my greek is non-existent I just hope this is the option to post a comment...

Since the TEAMadara homepage is down I didn`t know how to contact you and I`m really happy I found you again this way! It`s me, Anke - in 2006 we met on Mileapotamos river while we - a group of kayakers around Stuttgart, Germany - had a wonderful time kayaking in Greece. In 2007 we met again around Greece`s beautiful rivers, were attacked by goats while kayaking Kallaritikos river (?)together with you guys and attended a meeting to save those river beauties from damming.

After two years of travelling around South America and Australia I would love to gather a group of friends for another kayaking trip to Greece next year. But it is hard to find any information: Which rivers are dammed, how the mood is towards independent German travellers these days, if TEAMadara still is out there and so on. At least one question is answered for now! :)

Nikos, if you still have my E-Mail address, it would be great if we could reconnect! Otherwise you can contact me via my travelblog (which ends somewhere in Peru at the moment): www.travelpod.com/members/feeling_alive

    All the best from Germany,
    Anke

  2. Hello Anke

It's great hearing from you again. Unfortunately I had to shut down Teamadara site, but as you see old school Greek boaters survive through this small blog.
Our group still paddles the same rivers (perhaps some of us not as often as we 'd like to) and we will be happy to welcome you again for another "wild goats" canyon run, when you will come to Greece next year.

As far as I know, we haven't any serious progress in hydroelectric projects. There have been given a lot of permits for such projects to start, in classic paddling rivers, but I believe there is not much action yet.

You may contact me through the blog or at kayakologio at gmail dot com, when you will need more detailed information for your trip.
    Many regards
    Nikos

  4. Jassass Nikos,
I hope we can make another beautiful trip to Greece come true. Last time, we were in Greece around mid of April to mid of May. Is that generally a good time of year, or would you recommend some changes in date?
    All the best,
    Anke

Mid April to mid May is generally a good time for most of the rivers. I will try to find out more about water levels by then and I will let you know.
It's great that we will see you again in Greece
I will send the info to your e-mail.
    Nikos

  6. Hi Nikos,
it`s me again. A friend of ours has to be back to university by the 16th of April. So we are wondering if end of march - beginning of April would be a good time for kayaking in Greece, too. I am a bit worried that it might be too cold, roads might be blocked by snow or that the water levels for the main rivers might be too high if the weather is fine. What are your experiences for that time of the year?
    Greetings from Germany,
    Anke

  7. Hello Anke
It's difficult to know. You may say it's early in the season but who knows... It will depend on the snowcover on the mountains. If there is a late snow perhaps you won't be able to run the smaller rivers and creeks, which need the snowmelt to get in a good level. But there will always be some rivers with good water levels. Last year, the paddling groups who came early (late March - early April), had the best water.
